An oversized Symbolist canvas print in yellow and green. Its backlit canopy and sunstruck clearing pour warm late-day gold across a dining room, living room or hotel reception wall, while the dark branching trees keep all that light restful.
Visual Presence
From across the room the canvas reads as sunlight coming through leaves — a wall-wide screen of pale gold broken by dark branches, so the space feels lit from behind the wall. The yellow-green clearing carries that glow down to eye level, warming a dining table or seating area the way a lawn in late sun does. One small red figure at the right edge gives the eye a single warm point to land on from the far side of the room.
About the Art
Paul Gauguin (1848–1903), Post-Impressionism, painted 1891. Paul Gauguin wrote of his first time in Tahiti that 'everything in the landscape blinded and dazzled me' — this canvas is that dazzle painted down. The island's fruit trees crowd the scene: a thick-trunked violet hotu, slender mango and coconut, three banana plants in full leaf, while below a man works a coconut loose with a stick and a family rests beside a sleeping dog. Gauguin painted it on rough jute, letting the weave show through the paint. It hangs in the Art Institute of Chicago, the gift of Kate L. Brewster. We chose it for that blinding first light.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
