The Indian Church — Emily Carr
An oversized Landscape canvas print in green and white. The wall of dark green forest pulls the glare out of a bright room while the small white church holds the low centre as the one lit point, so a living room, a study or a hotel reception gains a deep cool green wall with a single place for the eye to land.
Visual Presence
Printed two metres tall, the forest greens run almost black at the edges and take light out of the wall, so a living room reads deeper and cooler with it up and the wall falls back instead of pressing forward. The white gable sits low in the picture at about standing height, which makes it the only thing that carries from the far side of the room — everyone walks towards it. A lamp set near the print lifts that pale church without waking the forest, so the same wall changes between daylight and evening.
About the Art
Emily Carr (1871–1945), Expressionism, painted 1929. Emily Carr (1871–1945), Canadian modernism, painted 1929. We chose it because this is the canvas that made her name. Carr sketched the small Catholic mission church at Yuquot, on Nootka Island, during her 1928 trip up the coast, then built it into a wall of forest back in the studio. Lawren Harris of the Group of Seven bought the finished painting, hung it in his own house and called it her best work — praise she could never accept. It went to the National Gallery of Canada in 1930 and to the Tate in 1938. Oil on canvas, 108.6 by 68.9 centimetres, Art Gallery of Ontario, which retitled it Church at Yuquot Village in 2018.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
