A tall Expressionist canvas print in grey and green. The two wading birds and the pale water behind them slow the pace of an entryway, a hotel reception or a long hallway, so people arriving stop and look up the wall instead of walking past.
Visual Presence
Printed large, the misty grey ground throws a soft cool light back into the room and takes the glare off a bright wall. From across the space the two birds read first as tall dark shapes, and the white birch trunks down the right side hold the eye at the edge instead of letting it slide off. The band of green reeds keeps enough colour in the piece that a quiet room does not go flat.
About the Art
Hans Thuar (1887–1945), Expressionism, painted 1933. Hans Thuar learned to paint beside his friend August Macke, and after Macke was killed at the front he carried Rhenish Expressionism somewhere quieter and more inward. Having lost both legs as a child, he studied only briefly in Düsseldorf, then taught himself, working through Cubist, Futurist and Fauvist ideas before settling on landscape. We chose this watercolour on washi paper, held in a private collection, because it shows the calm end of that road: two long-necked wading birds standing in shallow water, the birches and the far hill washed in with a few grey strokes. That restraint is what earns it a large wall.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
