An oversized Abstract canvas print in yellow and red. The huge spectacled face glows like a wall of afternoon sun, and its two bright-red accents — a diamond and a ball — give a living room, entryway or café wall instant warmth and wit.
Visual Presence
Across the room the canvas reads as one warm ochre-yellow panel, throwing back light like late sun on a plaster wall and lifting the space around it. The two spots of pure red — the small diamond and ball — are the marks that carry from a distance, pulling the eye back to the huge smiling face again and again. At mural scale its humour is immediate: an entry hall or open-plan living wall turns friendly the moment the face comes into view.
About the Art
Paul Klee painted this god of war not as a monument but as a huge, heavy-lidded face with an enigmatic smile, working gouache and tempera straight over sheets of newspaper — including reports of the Spanish Civil War — so the day's headlines show through his sign-like marks. He made it in exile in Switzerland after being forced from Germany, in the late style of bold colour, thick painterly lines and pictographs; the dancing figures below are simply areas he left unpainted. Now in the Cleveland Museum of Art, it turns the century's darkest news into something defiantly playful. We chose it for exactly that nerve.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
