A large square Botanical canvas print in gold and green. The two dark fiddleheads climbing the warm gold silk hand a hallway, reception or dining room one slow upward line to follow, while the pale green horsetail shoots keep the base of the wall fresh.
Visual Presence
Across a room the canvas reads as a single square of warm gold silk, throwing a low amber glow that makes a pale wall feel sunlit even on a grey day. The two dark fern stalks register like brush calligraphy from metres away, giving a corridor or dining space one still, deliberate mark to rest the eye on. Near the floor line the green shoots cool the composition, so the wall reads grounded rather than heavy.
About the Art
Shibata Zeshin (1807–1891), painted 1847. Shibata Zeshin, revered in Edo-period Japan as both painter and master of lacquer, painted these young ferns as one leaf of an accordion-style album — ink, colour and gold on silk — now held by the Cleveland Museum of Art through its John L. Severance Fund. On a page under twenty centimetres tall he gives two fiddlehead stalks the presence of full trees, setting them against muted gold with horsetail shoots and tiny white flowers at their feet. We chose this leaf for that act of attention — the first curled shoots of spring treated as monuments — which only grows more striking at wall scale.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
