In front of the House — Konštantín Bauer
An oversized Expressionist canvas print in orange and grey. The tiled roof cuts a wide orange diagonal across the top of the canvas and the pale grey walls and street fall away beneath it, so a living room, a dining room or a café wall gets one warm block of colour above head height while the lower half stays quiet enough to stand a sofa or a table against.
Visual Presence
Printed two metres tall, the orange roof sits high in the picture and throws warm colour down over a sofa or a dining table, which is where a grey-walled room usually goes cold in the evening. The pale grey and cream street filling the lower half keeps the wall light at seated eye level, so the warmth stays overhead rather than pressing in on the room. From across the space it reads as one bright roof above a pale street; the two small figures in brown and blue and the turquoise shopfront only come apart when you are a few steps away.
About the Art
Konštantín Bauer (1893–1928), painted 1922. Konštantín Bauer (1893–1928), Košice Modernism, painted 1922. We chose it for the angle: Bauer looks down on a village corner from above, so the tiled roof, not the sky and not a figure, becomes the largest shape on the canvas and the street runs off at the bottom edge. He was self-taught, worked as technical manager of the Košice city power plant, and became a leading name of the Košice Moderna, Slovakia's first avant-garde, painting the working edges of that town. The Slovak National Gallery holds it as Pred domom, oil on canvas, 45 by 38 centimetres, inventory O 5180, signed lower right.

Each print is custom stretched and framed at our Melbourne facility. Every piece is cut and assembled by hand, to ensure the highest quality finish.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
Production: 3 days.
Delivery: 1–2 weeks worldwide — tracked, insured, shipping included. Framed and stretched options are available for Australia & New Zealand only — see Worldwide Delivery.
