An oversized Impressionist canvas print in black and grey. One peat barge under a single dark sail takes up more than half the height and everything else is pale water and torn cloud, so a hallway, a reception wall or a study gets one tall dark shape standing against a wide field of soft grey light where the wall was blank.
Visual Presence
Printed two to three metres wide, the cream-white cloud bank and the silver water hold most of the surface, so a hallway stays light even though the sail itself reads almost black. From the far end of the room only two things carry — the one tall dark sail and the flat dark horizon line beneath it — which is why this holds a long wall on its own instead of needing a row of smaller frames. Walk up to it and the wall gives back the thick ridges of brushed cloud, the two small sails on the horizon behind and the reed stubble breaking the water at the right.
About the Art
Hans am Ende (1864–1918), German Impressionist. We chose it because it records a working trade rather than a view: black-hulled Torfkähne carried peat down the Hamme to Bremen from about 1752 into the 1920s, and around 1875 some 1,500 of them worked these waterways. Am Ende co-founded the Worpswede colony in 1889 with Otto Modersohn, Fritz Overbeck and Heinrich Vogeler, and the group's 1895 exhibitions at the Kunsthalle Bremen and the Munich Glaspalast made the moor famous. He was best known as an etcher, which shows in the flat cut of the sail against the sky. Oil on canvas, Museum im Modersohn-Haus, Worpswede.

Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
