An oversized Impressionist canvas print in green and brown. Its sweep of spring turf and bright silks brings racecourse energy to an executive office, boardroom or entry wall.
Visual Presence
Hung large, this print floods a wall with spring green — the room borrows the light of an open racecourse. The jewel-bright blue, yellow and red silks give the eye sharp points of colour that carry clearly across a lobby or living room. It brings movement and fresh air to spaces that would otherwise sit formal and still.
About the Art
Edgar Degas (1834–1917), Impressionism, painted about 1887–89. Edgar Degas made the racecourse one of his defining subjects, and we chose this pastel because it shows exactly how deliberately he built those images. He first worked out the four-jockey composition as a charcoal and pastel drawing, then traced it in reverse to create this sheet — intensifying the colours, opening the spacing between the riders and adding the landscape. The Cleveland Museum of Art links its sense of arrested motion to Eadweard Muybridge's pioneering photographs of movement. Pastel over a charcoal underdrawing on tracing paper, it came to Cleveland as the bequest of Leonard C. Hanna Jr.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
