Larch — Ivan Grohar
A large square Impressionist canvas print in yellow and pink. One larch trunk runs the whole height of the canvas and the meadow behind it is laid down in yellow and rose dabs that keep throwing light back off the wall, so a living room, a hotel lobby or a wellness reception opens onto an alpine slope in late sun, with the pale snow ridge held far back at the top to keep the distance in the room.
Visual Presence
At two to three metres square the trunk rises well past head height in the middle of the wall, so a living room gains a vertical axis it did not have and the seating arranges itself around it. There is no dark mass anywhere in the picture — the yellow and rose meadow bounces a warm hazy light back into the space, so a room with one window reads sunnier and the ceiling feels higher than it is. From the far side it settles into a single soft shimmer with the snow-streaked ridge floating behind the trunk, and only close up does the wall break into thousands of separate flicked strokes, which is what keeps a lobby or a long living-room wall worth looking at years later.
About the Art
Ivan Grohar (1867–1911), Impressionism, painted 1904. Ivan Grohar (1867–1911), Slovene Impressionism, painted 1904. We chose it for the year it was made. In 1904 Grohar settled in Škofja Loka, where he painted his best work and turned from landscape motifs to peasant labour, and that same year he exhibited in Vienna with Rihard Jakopič, Matej Sternen and Matija Jama as the artists' club Sava. The picture sits exactly on that turn: one larch planted dead centre, blocking the view it stands in, the meadow flicked on in strokes that never settle. The National Gallery of Slovenia in Ljubljana holds it — oil on canvas, 110 by 98 centimetres, inventory NG S 2634.

Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
