A panoramic Fauvist canvas print in green and blue. The river runs the whole width as one pale looping band with green hills spreading away on both sides of it, so a long living room wall, a hotel lobby or a boardroom reads as open river country seen from a height instead of a blank stretch of plaster.
Visual Presence
Printed three metres or more across, the thinned green and pale blue washes give the wall a daylight glow rather than a block of colour, so a living room or lobby stays airy with it up. From the far side of the room only the wide bands land — green hills on the left, the three pale figures in the yellow wheat at the centre, blue foliage and pale sky on the right — which is what lets one print carry a whole long wall with nothing else hung near it. Close up the scratched drawing takes over, so bridges, small rooftops, a cathedral spire and grazing cattle come out of the paint for anyone who walks right to the wall.
About the Art
Raoul Dufy (1877–1953), Expressionism, painted 1937. Raoul Dufy (1877–1953), Fauvism, painted 1937. We chose it because it is the version the public was never meant to see. The French state commissioned it for the smoking bar of the theatre in the new Palais de Chaillot for the Paris Exposition; Dufy, unhappy with the composition and afraid the mounting would dull his colour, left these three canvases unfinished and unsigned and painted the mural a second time. The rejected first version went on state deposit to the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen, was covered over by another work for years, then was rediscovered and cleaned in public view by fifteen restorers in 2023.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
