The Foxes — Franz Marc
A giant Expressionist canvas print in red and green. The two foxes are cut from the same brick-red wedges as the rocks they sit in, so one column of red runs the full height of the wall and holds a hallway, an entryway or a hotel reception on its own, while the black and brown blocks along the base keep the foot of the picture heavy and still.
Visual Presence
Hung tall in a hallway, the mass of brick and vermilion red throws warm colour down a narrow space, so a corridor that is usually just a way through gains its own temperature. The black and dark brown blocks along the bottom edge weigh the base of the canvas down, which stops a two-metre print from floating on a wall with no furniture beneath it. From the far end of the hall it reads as one red vertical shape, and the two fox heads only separate out of the facets a few steps closer.
About the Art

We chose it because it is the picture where Marc's foxes stop being animals in a landscape and become the landscape: body, rock and light cut from one set of crystalline facets, a lesson taken from Delaunay. It is also one of the most fought-over paintings of its century. Bought by the Berlin banker Kurt Grawi in 1928, sold as he fled Nazi Germany, donated to Düsseldorf's Museum Kunstpalast in 1962, returned to Grawi's heirs in January 2022 and sold at Christie's two months later. Oil on canvas, 88 by 66 centimetres, which is why it repays printing at wall scale.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
