Visual Presence
This print hits a room like movement caught mid-air: silver-white against near-black water, with one flash of scarlet that pulls the eye from anywhere in the space. From across the room it reads as bold, dark drama with a single bright accent. It commands a den, bar or lounge wall that wants energy rather than calm.
About the Art
Winslow Homer painted nothing else quite like this: a huge bass framed life-size from below, mouth open around a scarlet ibis fly, caught at the instant between life and capture. We chose it for that audacity. Homer trimmed the sheet himself — three centimetres from the bottom, two from each side — to pull the viewer deeper into the leap, and set the tightly focused fish against a vague, fluid background so all the vital energy stays in the strike. Painted on a Florida fishing trip, the watercolour is held by the Art Institute of Chicago, the bequest of Brooks McCormick.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
