Visual Presence

About the Art
Egbert Rubertus Derk Schaap (1862–1939) painted Meadow in Bloom in 1913 during his career as a Dutch landscape painter known for atmospheric, light-filled views of the Netherlands' open meadows. Working in a late impressionist style influenced by the Hague School tradition, Schaap captured the quiet rhythm of Dutch rural seasons. This work celebrates the brief explosion of summer wildflowers across uncultivated pasture — a subject also explored by his contemporaries in the Larense and Laren artists' colonies.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
