Evening View of Eight Famous Sites at Kanazawa — Utagawa Hiroshige I
A panoramic landscape canvas print in light blue and brown. The moonlit pale-blue bay runs the full width of the wall, giving a long entryway, living room or boardroom a still horizon to walk toward, the small white sails and pine headlands slowing the eye all the way across.
Visual Presence
Stretched past two metres, the print reads from across the room as one unbroken band of pale moonlit blue, and the wall goes quiet the way a window onto still water does. The low horizon and the cream band of night sky sit near standing eye height, so a long wall feels wider and further away than it is. Only the full moon and the dark pine headlands carry weight, which keeps the calm composed rather than empty.
About the Art
Utagawa Hiroshige designed this as an oban triptych — three woodblock sheets joined into one unbroken moonlit panorama of the eight famous views of Kanazawa on Edo Bay. It is the moon of his celebrated snow–moon–flowers trilogy, the three great triptychs of his final working year, published by Tsutaya and counted among the last masterpieces of his life. We chose it because it was conceived wall-wide from the start — a full moon, a thread of geese, a zigzag shore held in one continuous sweep that asks for panoramic printing. This impression is held in the Art Institute of Chicago's Clarence Buckingham Collection.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
