Visual Presence
The flat turquoise ground works like a painted wall panel, holding its colour from any distance, while the violet irises stay crisp from across the room. A low band of orange sunset adds a soft glow that warms an entry, bathroom or bedroom wall. A tall, graphic piece that gives a narrow wall the impact of a mural.
About the Art
Utagawa Hiroshige designed this view of the iris garden at Horikiri for One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, the celebrated series of his final years, and it earned its place here as a textbook case of his boldest device — monumental foreground forms opening onto a distant view. The village of Horikiri, on marshy ground east of the city, was famed for its hanashōbu irises, and Hiroshige pushes three near-life-size blooms into the immediate foreground while sightseers admire the flowering marsh far below. This impression, a colour woodcut in ōban format published by Totoya Eikichi, is held by Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
