Visual Presence
From across the room the wall reads as a garden corner — soft leaf greens and rose-pink blooms gathered around one column of blue-and-gold gown, colours that sit warmly against timber, linen and white paint. Her closed eyes and lowered profile slow the whole space down, so the room feels private and unhurried the moment you enter. At full size the figure stands life size, and the print carries a dining wall or bedroom alone, no grouping needed.
About the Art
John William Waterhouse, the painter of The Lady of Shalott, took this title from Tennyson's poem Maud — 'and the soul of the rose went into my blood'. A woman in a gold-patterned blue gown presses a pink rose to her face, eyes closed, against the roses of a walled Mediterranean garden. Bought straight from the Royal Academy's summer exhibition by the engineer Sir Brodie Henderson, it has stayed in private hands and later brought nearly five million US dollars at Christie's. We chose it as the tenderest of his late garden pictures — famous, romantic, made for a quiet wall.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
