Visual Presence
A single dark vertical line runs the full height of a softly banded grey-and-cream ground, marshalling a delicate cluster of pastel forms around it — a pink curving shape, a small purple cap, striped fans and two pale bowling-pin silhouettes to the left. A quiet red disc glows to the right. The palette is hushed and powdery, mauve, rose, soft yellow and teal drifting over neutral washes.
About the Art
This work sits in the transitional years bridging Kandinsky's Bauhaus period and his move to Paris in late 1933, when his strict geometry began loosening toward softer, more lyrical forms. A firm structural axis still organises the sheet, but the small tenderly coloured shapes suspended around it anticipate the biomorphic direction his Paris work would take. The muted, powdery palette is characteristic of his watercolours from this moment of change, part of the many watercolours Vivian Barnett catalogued across his Bauhaus and Paris years. Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
