Sitting pink nude — Frits Van den Berghe
A huge Expressionist canvas print in pink and brown. The whole picture is worked in one warm range of rose, rust and bare sand with no dark ground anywhere behind it, so a bedroom, a living room or a hotel suite gets a wall that glows like warm plaster while the heavy black outline does all the drawing.
Visual Presence
Printed two to three metres tall the seated body rises well past your own height, so a bedroom or a feature wall stops reading as a flat surface and starts reading as a room with someone already sitting in it. Nothing in the picture is dark except the outlines, so the canvas throws a warm low light back into the space and makes cool plaster or a white wall read softer and pinker than it did before. From the far side of the room only those black lines carry, running the body and the tree on the right together into one continuous contour, which is what lets this hold a wide empty wall with nothing hung beside it.
About the Art
Frits Van den Berghe (1883–1939), Expressionism, painted 1928. Frits Van den Berghe (1883–1939), Flemish Expressionism, painted 1928. We chose it for the point where a Latem painter turned into a dreamer. Van den Berghe was a founder of the Latem School with Gustave De Smet, Constant Permeke and Albert Servaes, then read Freud, and his people stopped being villagers. The Museum of Fine Arts Ghent reads this one as an old motif, the human body and the tree made into a single thing. Look at the right side: the raised arm does not hold the trunk, it grows into it. Bought from Galerie Georges Giroux, Brussels, in 1950; oil on paper on panel, inv. 1950-S.

Each print is custom stretched and framed at our Melbourne facility. Every piece is cut and assembled by hand, to ensure the highest quality finish.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
Production: 3 days.
Delivery: 1–2 weeks worldwide — tracked, insured, shipping included. Framed and stretched options are available for Australia & New Zealand only — see Worldwide Delivery.
