Danceress (The Gesture) — Oskar Schlemmer
An oversized Modern Abstract canvas print in light blue and orange. The pale blue dancer rises the full height of the canvas against a cream archway, cooling the wall, while the orange floor wedges put warmth back in at ankle height, so a hallway, an entryway or a hotel reception gains a standing figure to walk past instead of a bare vertical run.
Visual Presence
Printed two metres tall she is life size, so in a hallway you pass her rather than look at her, and the corridor gains a companion at your own height. The cream and pale grey ground throws soft even light back into the space, so the wall brightens without a hot colour anywhere above knee level — the only warmth is the band of orange floor, which picks up timber and terracotta already in the room. From the far end of the space the long blue skirt reads as one tapering wedge pointing down and forward, so the eye is pulled along the wall instead of stopped at it.
About the Art
Oskar Schlemmer (1888–1943), Modern, painted 1922. Oskar Schlemmer (1888–1943), Bauhaus, painted 1922. We chose it because this is the year his Triadic Ballet premiered at the Stuttgart Landestheater to music by Paul Hindemith, and the painting does on canvas what those costumes did on stage — the body rebuilt as cones, ovals and one tapering skirt. A year later he was made Master of Form of the Bauhaus theatre workshop. In 1937 five of his works hung in the Nazi Degenerate Art exhibition in Munich. Oil and tempera on canvas, 200 by 130 centimetres, Pinakothek der Moderne, inv. 13421, bought in 1964 from his widow Tut Schlemmer.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
Production: 3 days.
Delivery: 1–2 weeks worldwide — tracked, insured, shipping included. Framed and stretched options are available for Australia & New Zealand only — see Worldwide Delivery.
