Visual Presence
At two to three metres wide the pale pink and cream sky becomes the wall's own light source, lending a living room the glow of late afternoon even on a grey day. Because the farmhouse and trees repeat upside-down in the water, the whole canvas reads calm and symmetrical from across the room — a wall that holds still. Step closer and the dark branches turn to lace over the pastel ground, so the print rewards the sofa-distance view as much as the doorway one.
About the Art
Piet Mondrian is remembered for grids of primary colour, yet his vision was rooted in the Dutch landscape — and this farm is the proof. He sketched the building near Duivendrecht years before, then returned to it in some twenty known paintings and drawings, nine of them made during the First World War, when patrons wanted his naturalistic Dutch scenes rather than his Cubist experiments. The canvas passed directly from Mondrian to the van der Hoop family of Amsterdam, who kept it for decades before giving it to the Art Institute of Chicago. We chose it as the landscape still breathing inside the century's most famous abstract painter.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
