A large Cubist canvas print in grey and brown. The figure stands nearly the full height of the canvas in a pale blue-grey suit against a warm brown wall, with one yellow block behind his shoulder as the only bright thing in the picture, so a hallway, an entryway or an office reception gains a quiet standing presence at eye level instead of a blank stretch of paint.
Visual Presence
Printed two metres tall the man stands close to life size, so a hallway or an entryway reads as occupied the moment you turn into it — someone is already there, at your own height. The grey-blue suit and the warm brown ground are both low in contrast and throw no colour back into the space, which is why it sits easily beside timber, leather and off-white walls in an office instead of fighting them. From the far end of a corridor only three things carry — the two round white spectacles, the yellow block at his shoulder and the terracotta jug at his hip — so the wall holds one fixed point to walk towards.
About the Art
Josef Capek (1887–1945), Modern, painted 1920. Josef Capek (1887–1945), Czech Cubism, painted 1920. We chose it because the man in the hat is the painter himself — a self-portrait built out of flat cut plates, with the stencilled words Rámy and Plátno behind him, Czech for frames and canvas. The same year his brother Karel was stuck for a name for the manufactured workers in a new play; he came to Josef at the easel, and Josef told him to call them robots. Capek died in Bergen-Belsen in April 1945. The painting hangs in the National Gallery Prague, at the Veletržní palác.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
