A tall Cubist Abstract canvas print in orange and black. Its warm, saturated ground and clean graphic forms energise a dining room, lounge or hospitality space, adding a confident jolt of colour to a considered interior.
Visual Presence
Sculptural black and white forms — a great scalloped shell-like shape, a green stencilled letter E, ribbons, dots and a keyhole silhouette — float against a saturated orange field. Cool jade-green accents and hard black bars punctuate the composition, while soft grey modelling gives the curved shapes a polished, three-dimensional weight. The overall effect is graphic and buoyant, warm orange set against crisp monochrome objects.
About the Art
Fernand Léger composed Nature morte à la pipe sur fond orange during the late 1920s, lifting familiar objects — a pipe, a letter, leaf and ribbon forms — out of their everyday context and treating them purely as plastic, linear elements. Working from his Purist-influenced interest in balance and the machined object, he arranged these motifs for compositional harmony rather than narrative, setting rounded, modelled shapes against a flat, vivid ground. The painting was acquired by the dealer Paul Rosenberg from the artist by 1929 and later entered the collection of the Musée national Fernand Léger in Biot.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
