Geese on the Leie — Valerius de Saedeleer
A large Landscape canvas print in green and pale yellow. Almost half the canvas is still water carrying the reflection of the cloud bank above it, and that long pale band lifts the light in a living room, a hotel reception or a quiet study, while the white geese low on the water give the wall one small thing to find from the doorway.
Visual Presence
Printed two to three metres tall the picture is mostly sky and water, so the wall it hangs on stops reading as a solid surface and a living room or a reception area gains something closer to a window onto flat open country. The cream and gold clouds fill the upper half with a warm late-light that the pale water underneath throws straight back, so the room brightens without one strong colour anywhere in it. From across the space only three things register — the cloud bank, the green field band and the small white geese — which is why it holds a tall wall on its own and never competes with the furniture under it.
About the Art
Valerius de Saedeleer (1867–1941), Expressionism, painted 1903. Valerius de Saedeleer (1867-1941), first Sint-Martens-Latem group, painted 1903. We chose it for the moment a Belgian landscape painter stopped painting weather and started painting stillness. De Saedeleer had moved to the Leie at Sint-Martens-Latem with Georges Minne and Gustave van de Woestyne, the first of the two artist groups that made the village famous, and here he hands almost the whole panel to a cloud bank and its reflection, keeping the geese, a beached flat boat and one bare black branch as the only incident. Oil on panel, 70 by 60.5 centimetres, held by the Museum van Deinze en de Leiestreek.

Each print is custom stretched and framed at our Melbourne facility. Every piece is cut and assembled by hand, to ensure the highest quality finish.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
Production: 3 days.
Delivery: 1–2 weeks worldwide — tracked, insured, shipping included. Framed and stretched options are available for Australia & New Zealand only — see Worldwide Delivery.
