A panoramic Symbolist canvas print in brown and orange. The two beasts walk the full width of the canvas at close to the size of real horses, and the dark gold ground they cross carries no sky and no horizon, so a dining room, a living room or a hotel reception gains a warm, lamp-lit band of colour running the whole length of the wall instead of a window cut into it.
Visual Presence
Printed two to three metres wide the two animals stand at roughly life size, so a long dining or living room wall reads as if something is walking along it rather than hanging on it. There is no white and no sky anywhere in the picture — the ground is a deep ochre gold flecked with small yellow stars — so the print warms a room the way a lit lamp does and still carries on a wall that gets very little daylight. From the far side of the room only the coral animal and the pale blue one register; walk up to it and the bottom third opens into herons, small ochre birds and white flowers, which is what keeps a dining wall worth sitting in front of.
About the Art
Anita Rée (1885–1933), Hamburg Secession, catalogued as around 1931. We chose it because it is Rée at her freest, and it comes from her last years. Hamburg-born, she studied under Arthur Siebelist, spent the winter of 1912 with Fernand Léger in Paris and three years in Positano before returning north. In 1932 the church at Langenhorn withdrew her altarpiece commission and the Hamburg art establishment called her alien, and she left for Sylt. Here she paints no client and no sitter at all: two invented animals in a gold field, walking. The canvas is privately owned and hung in the Kunsthalle's 2017 retrospective.

Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
