Most wall art is bought to fill a gap. Oversized art does something different — it takes the wall over, and the room arranges itself around it.

Not above the sofa

People often ask what size to hang above a sofa. Honest answer: most of our work doesn't go above a sofa at all. A two-metre canvas wants a feature wall — an entry, a stair void, a dining wall, a living room with ceiling height to spare. Where a room has one commanding surface, one commanding work beats four small ones every time.

Why scale feels different

A small print you look at. A large one you stand in front of — it fills your field of view, the way a window does. That is why galleries hang big: presence is a function of scale.
