Why Almost No One Prints at 6 Metres — and How We Do

Most reproduction in Australia stops near 90 centimetres. Not because bigger isn't wanted — because bigger is hard. Hard to print, hard to stretch flat, hard to frame straight, hard to ship without damage. Each step gets unforgiving as the numbers grow.

The materials have to keep up

We print giclée on two professional canvases: 380 gsm premium linen for work up to 160 cm on the short side rolled, and 320 gsm professional synthetic for larger pieces up to 220 cm rolled. Both are acid-free, artist-grade, and hand-inspected before dispatch.

Past three metres: the seamless split

Couriers have limits even when we don't. Beyond 200 × 300 cm, we split the work into two seamless panels — the image continuous across both, hung with or without a gap. Multi-panel construction takes a single composition to 6 metres and beyond.

One studio, no hand-offs

Printing, stretching on 4.2 cm Australian pine, oak floating frames, crating and delivery — one Melbourne studio does all of it. When one team owns every step, a 3-metre canvas arrives the way it left: flat, square and ready to hang. That is the whole trick, and it is why since 2015 we have produced over 4,000 large-format pieces for designers, universities, hospitals and private homes.
